Troop 654, Mount Vernon, VA
Welcome To Our Website!
  • WELCOME TO BSA TROOP 654

  • Troop Overview

Founded in 1951, Troop 654 is one of the oldest troops in the Colonial District of the National Capital Area Council. To date, over 180 Troop 654 Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. We are chartered by Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, in Mount Vernon, Virginia.

While the Scoutmaster and Adult Leaders are ultimately responsible, the Scouts handle the week-to-week leadership of the Troop themselves. We are a BOY RUN TROOP!

We offer an exciting program that promotes traditional values and character development. We also emphasize outdoor activities throughout the year.

Troop meetings are held most Monday nights from 7–8pm at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, on Fort Hunt Road, Alexandria, VA. Troop activities run from Sept through the first week of July. Rising Webelos join the Troop in late March.

    • Announcing New Leadership

After an adventurous year of service to the Troop, Scout Master Fred 'Winton' Smith handed the helm  to John Keightley. Thank you, Mr. Smith, for your dedication to the Troop.  Your positive attitude and commitment has been an example for us all.  The Scouts and Committee Members could always count on Scout Master Smith. We wish you fair winds and following seas.

John Keightley, previously an ASM, brings many years of scouting experience and optimism to lead the Troop forward.  The Troop stands ready to support and thanks you for taking up the helm.
